LeapDesk™ Workstation version 2.0 - Cartridge Troubleshooting
|
|
|
| Symptom / Question |
My LeapDesk cartridge will not show up on the computer screen when placed in the Mind Station® while attempting to run reports using Link to Lessons 3.0 desktop software or LeapDesk Reports desktop software.
|
| Solution |
If you are not able to view the data on the LeapDesk cartridge or see letters and student names, please ensure that the software driver is installed for your Mind Station cartridge reader. If the software driver is not installed or functioning properly on your computer, the red and green lights on the Mind Station will continually flash even with a cartridge inserted and seated properly.
If your Mind Station is installed correctly and its lights are solid green with the cartridge inserted, it is possible that the data on the cartridge has become corrupt. If this occurs, Link To Lessons 3.0 and LeapDesk Reports desktop software allow users to restore their cartridge with the last known insertion cartridge data. Along with restoring a previous backup, you may restore the LeapDesk 2.0 Cartridge with the factory cartridge image. To download the LeapDesk 2.0 cartridge image for English and Spanish versions, click here to return to the LeapDesk product page and download center.
Installing the Mind Station software driver
With either Link to Lessons 3.0 or the LeapDesk Reports software fully installed on your Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP operating system, connect the USB cable on the Mind Station securely into an available USB port. A Found New Hardware Wizard will appear. If the wizard does not automatically appear on your screen when initially plugging in the device, you may manually start the New Hardware Wizard within the Device Manager panel in your Windows® operating system.
- Insert your Link To Lessons 3.0 or LeapDesk Reports CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive. The installation CD-ROM can be found on the inside back cover of your Link to Lessons or LeapDesk Teacher Manual.
- On your desktop or start menu, right-click on 'My Computer'
- Select 'Properties...'
- Select the 'Hardware Tab'
- Select the 'Device Manager' button.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Device Manager window to 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers'
- Right-click on 'Mind Station' within the Device Manager. You may notice a question mark or exclamation mark next to the listed device.
- Select 'Update Driver...'
- The New Hardware Wizard will launch. If the wizard asks you to connect to the Internet to search for a suitable driver, select 'No, not this time' and click 'Next...'
- Select 'Install the software automatically (Recommended)' and click 'Next...'
- The wizard will search the CD-ROM drive for the correct device driver.
- The New Hardware Wizard may ask which driver to select, if this occurs, leave the default driver highlighted in the wizard window and click 'Next...'
- If your computer is running Windows® XP operating system, a "Windows Logo Tested" warning may occur when installing the device driver. If this occurs, select 'Continue Anyway'
- Click 'Finish'
